Yoga for Pregnancy: Empowered, embodied transformation

December 6-8, 2024 | Friday 5:30-9:00 |  Saturday & Sunday: 8am-5pm

Are you a yoga teacher, birth worker, or curious individual, who has ever wondered what happens to a person’s body during pregnancy, childbirth, early parenthood, and beyond?
Are you passionate about supporting people as they journey through the life changing phases of pregnancy, childbirth, and new parenthood?
Whether you plan to teach prenatal yoga or not, this first module offers a fascinating look at the changing experience that pregnancy brings to a person’s life, and ways we can offer empowering support. Students in this training will learn:

      • An understanding of the physiology and anatomy of each trimester
      • Reverence for the changing pregnant body
      • Understanding of the function and anatomy of the pelvic floor during pregnancy
      • Awareness of common concerns and experiences pregnancy brings
      • How to create an inclusive space for all individuals on their pregnancy journey
      • The subtle yoga anatomy of pregnancy
      • Ayurveda for pregnancy
      • How to guide safe and empowering yoga asana, including sequencing and theming
      • Pranayama, breathing for pregnancy
      • The powerful use of mantra and sound in pregnancy
      • How to facilitate life changing, community centred, and empowering classes and workshops for pregnant individuals
      • An overall confidence in their knowledge and ability to guide pregnant students in yoga classes

Pregnancy and birth are rites of passage in a person’s life, preparing them for the timeless challenges and gifts of becoming a parent. Through yoga, a pregnant individual learns to listen to and trust their body, to dive into their clarity and to shed the confines of conditioned thinking. This fosters authenticity and deep connectedness with the growing baby. Embracing nature’s perfect design, people can thrive, heal, and evolve through pregnancy and birth.

Any person wanting to dive deeper into prenatal knowledge while learning the skills to teach prenatal and postnatal yoga, as well as those who want to learn how to safely guide expectant individuals in their regular yoga classes are invited to take this training series. Yoga teachers, Midwives, doulas, childbirth educators, expectant mothers, health & wellness practitioners, therapists, doctors & nurses are also welcome!

Weekend 1: Yoga for Pregnancy – Empowered, Embodied Transformation

Weekend 2: Yoga for Pregnancy, Labour & Delivery – The ultimate rite of passage

Weekend 3: Postnatal Yoga – Supporting the new parent’s journey

This 25 hour training fulfills the Yoga Alliance requirements for Continuing Education as a stand alone course. It also applies toward Prana’s 85 hour YA prenatal certification, and is an elective module for the Prana 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Led by Jennifer Janvier this prenatal training will create a deeper understanding into the care and safety required when teaching expectant parents.
