YAA Mentorship Guidelines

Mentoring Opportunities

We are always looking for YAA mentors to mentor students in their own communities under the auspices of the YAA TTP.  Your regular students may not be aware that they can attend a flexible pay-as-you-go teacher training with you as their mentor!  TTP classes are now being held in-person and on Zoom, so they are now easily accessible throughout Alberta. Weekly classes, practicum hours and extra workshops can all be taken with you as their mentor. Many students choose the teacher training route to deepen their own practice, even if they are not interested in teaching as a career.  If they do become teachers, this mentorship can continue beyond basic training to all Advanced Training Levels, so they can continue to grow under your mentorship.
If you are currently mentoring students within the YAA-TTP, or if you would like to do so, please consider promoting the YAA-TTP within your classes.  At the same time, we would like to help promote you!  We often have students register that are in need of a mentor.  Contact the Coordinator at [email protected] and let us know you are interested in mentoring.  The more information I have about you, where you teach, your style of teaching, etc., the easier it is for me to match you with students.

Own Your Own Studio?

If you are running your own teacher training program, your students can apply for YAA Equivalency Certification.  This will give them connection with a larger local community plus recognition by the Yoga Alliance. Students can still continue to access classes and workshops through your studio, and apply them towards Recertification requirements and Advanced Training Levels with the YAA.  This ensures long-term engagement with your students throughout their career!

Questions?

Contact the Coordinator at [email protected] with any questions or concerns.  We are here to help you work with your community so together we can help Alberta thrive!

Forms & Guidelines

This information is for YAA Certified Teachers who hold Senior Teacher Status, and mentor students under the auspices of the YAA Teacher Training Program (TTP).  The Mentorship Guidelines outline the roles and responsibilities for Senior and Intermediate Teachers, and give information on the Monthly Core Curriculum Classes and Teaching Skills Workshops.  The TTP Guidelines outline the YAA TTP program policies, components and requirements.  If you are mentoring students under the auspices of the YAA TTP,  you will need to stay up to date on the most recent version of these documents.
