About the Teacher: Anita Sielecki encountered yoga many, many years ago. Experiencing that first conscious breath sparked a “love affair” that has lasted to this day. After studying with teachers from a variety of different traditions, she was certified by The Yoga Association of Alberta in 1990 and by Sandra Sammartino in 1994. In 1996 she took early retirement and left behind her career in Science to dedicate her time to the teaching of yoga, preside over The Yoga Association of Alberta for 10 continuous years and organize numerous yoga/meditation retreats with remarkable out-of-town teachers. From perceiving yoga as a tool for survival from the everyday stresses, she slowly came to experience it as the backbone of a wholesome way of life. Her interest and passion are to transfer that understanding while guiding her students towards an ongoing state of mindfulness so that they can be present to the myriad experiences accompanying each movement, each posture, each breath. The result of practicing with such focus is often a more relaxed body and a quieter mind.
