Kim Fraser Wednesdays, May 1 & 15, 2024
Yoga supports our mind and spirit to become spacious and fluid. Yoga loosens what is being held within. In this class, we will use yoga, mindfulness practices, and generative writing. Kim will guide you through yoga to move your body, relax your mind, and tap into your creative self. Through a combination of yoga and reflective writing, we will go deeper using the asanas as a catalyst for self-discovery. Kim will offer prompts and glimmers to get you started or keep you going–where ever you may be. As we go through this practice Kim will invite you to listen to your body’s guidance to develop receptivity, awareness, and trust–enabling you to access your own wisdom from within, and to feel yoga’s power to promote free, authentic and imaginative expression. If you are a writer with a work in progress or have something you want to work on, you are invited to use that in the short writing segments. Regardless, you will get your creative spark ignited.
Please bring your favorite props as well as blocks or a pillow, blanket, yoga mat, journal and writing instrument.
About the Teacher:
Dr. Kim Fraser is a long time yogi and a 500-hour certified yoga teacher through the YAA. As a writer, researcher and nursing professor, Kim knows first-hand the benefits of using the body through yogic practices to go deeper into our mind and heart. In her work life, Kim focuses on family caregiving, health policy and aging. She is an author of numerous academic articles and essays, as well as book length manuscripts and chapters. Her recent books, The Accidental Caregiver: Challenges and Triumphs of Intimate Family Caregiving and The Care Book: A planning and resource guide to support your journey from accidental to intentional are available at fine books stores, Indigo, or Amazon.
When not writing, retreating, or doing yoga, she usually hangs out in her studio making jewelry, fibre arts, and restyled wearable art mostly from denim–her favorite fabric. Kim lives in rural Strathcona County.
